Biography

Mr. Rahman is a Partner at Filippatos PLLC, and a skilled and versatile trial lawyer with over a decade of unparalleled success and experience representing victims of unlawful conduct in virtually all types of employment disputes.

Formerly a senior lawyer at another powerhouse plaintiffs’ employment and civil rights law firm based in New York City, before briefly opening his own practice, Mr. Rahman joined Filippatos PLLC in 2022 with a focus on zealously representing plaintiffs in the areas of labor and employment law, civil rights law, complex class action litigation, business and commercial law, and appellate litigation.

Mr. Rahman also focuses a significant part of his practice representing courageous survivors of sexual assault, many of whom have bravely come forward in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

Throughout his career, Mr. Rahman, an incredibly passionate advocate, has successfully litigated countless multi-plaintiff and high net-worth single plaintiff employment discrimination, sexual harassment, and unlawful retaliation cases, helping secure numerous seven- and eight-figure settlements for his clients.

Mr. Rahman has also served as lead counsel for dozens of wage and hour and other types of class action litigations involving classes of aggrieved employees in a wide range of industries, including: transportation; restaurant, night clubs, and hospitality; construction; the solar industry; banking; retail; and workers in the healthcare and insurance fields.

Mr. Rahman has successfully litigated non-employment civil rights cases, including claims of racial and other forms of unlawful profiling, police brutality and misconduct, and discrimination by public accommodations such as high-end retail stores and schools and universities.

Mr. Rahman has also successfully litigated several high value commercial and business disputes, including matters involving alleged breaches of contract; failure to pay bonuses, stock awards, or other incentive compensation; disputes over corporate shareholder status; the enforceability of non-compete/non-solicitation covenants; and allegations of fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and tortious interference.

Mr. Rahman has also been admitted to practice pro hac vice by courts in various states, including California, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

Mr. Rahman has extensive experience litigating matters in arbitration, including before the American Arbitration Association (AAA), JAMS, and FINRA.

Mr. Rahman has also practiced before various administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), and others.

Background & Experience

After completing law school, Mr. Rahman served as a law clerk for multiple trial court judges within the Vermont state court system.

Prior to joining Filippatos PLLC, Mr. Rahman opened his own practice, and before that worked as a senior attorney for nearly ten years at one of the nation’s premier and most feared plaintiffs’ employment and civil rights law firms.

There, Mr. Rahman had the privilege of working closely with and learning from some of the most highly regarded employment and civil rights litigators in the country on a multitude of impactful and influential cases that have gained notoriety over the last decade.
