Timothy Allen Scott: Attorney with Fegan Scott LLC

Biography

Timothy Scott is a founding member of FeganScott with more than two decades of experience. He has advocated on behalf of a wide range of clients, from individuals in catastrophic personal injury cases to classes of consumers and corporate defendants, in highly complex, multi-district litigation.

Before co-founding FeganScott, Tim spent ten years as a partner in a boutique law firm where he managed the litigation department and represented corporate and individual clients. There, he obtained millions of dollars in settlements and judgments on behalf of plaintiffs in serious personal injury cases. These included cases involving automobile accidents, willful and wanton conduct of government officials, elder abuse, products liability, manufacturing defects, premises liability, construction defects and work-related injuries throughout northern Illinois. Tim has also successfully prosecuted violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act, the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act, and the Illinois Right of Publicity Act.

Tim also served many corporate clients in commercial litigation matters involving breaches of contracts, deceptive business practices, defaults in financing and security agreements, and breaches of representations and warranties.

In 2004, Tim launched the Chicago office of Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro with Beth Fegan, where he played a significant role in expanding the firm’s presence in the Midwest. At Hagens Berman, Tim gained extensive experience in class action litigation from the plaintiff’s perspective. While there, Tim often served as lead or co-lead counsel on cases involving antitrust, improper insurance practices, and consumer fraud.

Prior to his time at Hagens Berman, Tim was an associate in the complex mass torts and insurance litigation department in the Chicago office of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLC, representing corporate defendants in class action and mass-tort matters in state and federal courts throughout the country.

Prior to attending law school, Tim worked in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster where he handled high-exposure liability cases throughout the claims process. This role included factual investigation, coverage analysis and liability and damages determination.

Tim’s time on the defense bar and knowledge of how the “other side” defends class actions and serious personal injury matters gives our clients an edge. Tim’s experience provides a unique perspective in evaluating and preparing cases for victims of negligent companies and individuals. Coupling his experience with his vast knowledge of insurance coverage issues gives Tim’s personal injury clients an advantage. Moreover, Tim’s in-depth knowledge of the insurance claims process allows him to skillfully navigate the complexities of insurance law and company policies to obtain maximum compensation on behalf of those who have been injured.

Tim was born and raised in DeKalb, Illinois. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago, Illinois.
