Timothy Joseph Kingsbury: Attorney with Humphrey, Farrington & McClain, P.C.

Biography

Timothy J. Kingsbury is a Shareholder at Humphrey, Farrington & McClain, P.C. in Independence, Missouri, where he represents plaintiffs in complex personal injury, toxic tort, products liability, medical malpractice, and environmental contamination cases. He has tried cases and resolved matters in more than a dozen states, recovering well over $100 million in verdicts and settlements for injured individuals and families.

Tim's practice focuses on catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases arising from corporate negligence particularly defective products, toxic chemical exposures, dangerous premises, and failures in medical care. His most recent (since 2023) results include a $47 million confidential settlement for plaintiffs suffering from cancer and autoimmune diseases caused by groundwater contamination, a $30 million settlement for two hair stylists made seriously ill by a toxic product falsely marketed as safe, and a $15.6 million jury verdict for a client catastrophically injured at a trampoline park due to a dangerous and defective attraction.

Tim has experience on both sides of the courtroom. Early in his career, he obtained a defense verdict for the City of Grandview, Missouri in a $5.6 million inverse condemnation case, experience that sharpened his understanding of how defense counsel evaluates risk, frames evidence, and prepares witnesses. He brings that perspective to every plaintiff's case he handles.

His advocacy has contributed to meaningful industry change: Tim's work in portable fuel container litigation helped drive the nationwide adoption of flame arrestors on plastic gas cans after exposing a cost-cutting design defect that caused severe burn injuries and deaths.

Tim received his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2012 and holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of Missouri. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Missouri and Kansas and has earned multiple placements among Missouri's Top Verdicts. He is admitted to practice in Missouri, the U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Missouri, Southern District of Illinois, Southern District of Iowa, Southern District of Indiana, Northern and Southern Districts of California, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Tim is a member of the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar, and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. He lives in Independence, Missouri with his wife and two sons.
