Biography

Tim Louman-Gardiner practices in civil litigation generally, and specializes in creditors’ remedies and collections, bankruptcy and insolvency, and corporate restructuring. He has represented clients before all levels of courts in British Columbia. Tim also has experience in alternative forms of dispute resolution, including assisting clients involved in arbitration and mediation.

Tim’s practice in creditors’ remedies and bankruptcy and insolvency includes acting for secured and unsecured creditors in realization proceedings and foreclosures, acting for creditors and debtor companies in restructurings pursuant to the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act, various parties in receivership proceedings, a liquidator in a proceeding under the Winding-Up and Restructuring Act, creditors and bankrupts in personal bankruptcies, and advising corporate clients in connection with restructurings and insolvency matters. His litigation practice involves a broad range of matters including complex contractual disputes, corporate and governance disputes, real estate litigation, banking litigation, shareholder disputes, defamation, and valuation and dissent proceedings. Tim also maintains a construction law practice, focusing on builder’s lien claims, and an estates litigation practice specializing in in complex accounting and committee proceedings.

Tim attended the University of British Columbia (UBC), earning degrees in law and political science, as well as serving as an elected member of UBC’s board of governors and an appointed member of the UBC Alumni Association board of directors.

In his spare time, Tim works as an amateur football referee across Western Canada at the junior and university levels, and enjoys spending time with his two young children.
