Todd Lyon Swift: Attorney with Resnick & Louis, P.C.

Biography

Todd Swift is a Partner in the Las Vegas office of Resnick & Louis, P.C. He has extensive litigation experience in insurance defense, auto accident liability, workplace injury, occupational hazards, products liability, and premises liability. Todd’s experience includes the analysis and litigation of complex insurance defense issues, involving multiple lines of coverage, appearing in both federal and state courts. He has handled matters through all stages of a case, from pre-litigation, through discovery and trial, and appeals. He has tried numerous cases to jury verdict, with favorable outcomes every time, including full defense verdicts on cases which looked like sure losers before he sunk his teeth into them.

The complex issues he has dealt with have included hotly contested liability cases with unique questions of law that required an expertise at drawing out the crucial winning facts through careful cross examination of fact and expert witnesses. He has handled cases involving spine surgery, traumatic brain injury, brain surgery, vegetative state, animal mauling, workplace injuries, disfigurement, loss of limbs, paraplegia, burn injuries, wrongful death claims, product defect, fraud, and toxic tort. Through the grueling self-study required to challenge experts of various fields, Todd has developed specialized knowledge in neurology, hematology, oncology, epidemiology, toxicology, immunology, psychology, cytogenetics, biomechanics, orthopedics, economics, industrial hygiene, accident reconstruction, and structural and electrical engineering.

Todd also has experience in handling the investigation and litigation of special education matters under the federal Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA). Todd has assisted clients in estate planning matters, including conducting pro bono legal clinics for the Southern Nevada Senior Law Program. Prior to graduating from law school, Todd worked for Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, where he assisted disadvantaged members of the Las Vegas community with bankruptcy, personal debt, and asset protection matters. He participated in the Duberstein Moot Court competition at St. John’s University School of Law in New York.

Todd enjoys reading literary and scientific works, rock climbing, weightlifting, hiking, camping, and traveling. He loves discovering the best restaurants and adventures around both his native Las Vegas and the surrounding areas, as well as each of his travel destinations. He ran the 2019 Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Full Marathon, wherein he learned around mile marker 22 that marathons are for crazy people (a sane person would have realized it sooner). His latest passion is travelling internationally and to the non-contiguous United States and her territories. Todd has lived in Japan and Hawaii, and he has travelled to Mexico, South Korea, and the Philippines. He is preparing to tour Europe soon, and his near-term bucket list includes the British Isles, the Caribbean, and Australasia. Todd has been writing a near future science fiction novel, which he may never finish, but he enjoys the creative escapism it provides. Todd is also an artist, musically trained in piano, saxophone, cello, tuba/sousaphone, and voice, and educated in the visual arts including graphic design, illustration, fine art, and computer design.

Todd is licensed to practice law in the state of Nevada.
