Biography

Tracy Markham grew up on a dairy farm in New York State where she learned the value of hard work. She attended college at Cornell University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985. Tracy went on to attend Syracuse University College of Law. Tracy was selected for law review based on her academic performance and graduated from Syracuse Law School in 1988 summa cum laude.

Upon graduation from law school, Tracy clerked for U.S. District Court Judge, Thomas J. McAvoy from 1988 to 1989 in the Northern District of New York, and taught briefly at the Cornell Law School as an adjunct professor. From 1989 to 1994, Ms. Markham worked primary for insurance companies, defending them against a variety of claims, including first-party policyholder claims. Ms. Markham then moved to Florida.

Prior to joining Southern Atlantic Law Group, Tracy worked for Avolio and Hanlon, P.C., a multi-jurisdictional law firm with offices in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Jupiter, Florida and St. Augustine, Florida, from 1996 to the beginning of 2019. During these nearly twenty-three years at Avolio and Hanlon, P.C., Tracy was the managing attorney at its St. Augustine office, where she focused her practice on class actions, first-party insurance issues, as well as personal injury and wrongful death claims.

Tracy has dedicated most of her career to helping individuals who have been wronged and brings her extensive experience and history of excellent results for her clients to the Southern Atlantic Law Group.

Tracy is a member of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, the New York State Bar Association, the Florida Bar, and the St. Johns County Bar Association. She also has a history of active involvement in the community including as a volunteer with the St. Johns County Legal Aid group. While in St. Augustine, Tracy also served on the following non-profit board of directors: American Cancer Society (St. Augustine Chapter), Betty Griffen House, and the Institute of Dance Arts, Inc. d/b/a The Dance Company. Tracy lives in St. Johns County with her husband.
