Biography

Prior to joining Kagan Law Group as counsel, Mr. Martz served as the managing partner of Martz Legal. Mr. Martz began his career in Annapolis in 2001 as a registered lobbyist representing the Maryland Automobile Dealers Association before the Maryland General Assembly and continues to serve as general counsel to that trade group. Through his work with the Maryland Automobile Dealers Association, Mr. Martz cultivated a strong legal niche representing automobile dealers and vendors that interact with them. Mr. Martz is skilled at providing both legal and government relations counsel to trade associations and private entities alike desiring to change of state and local laws. Mr. Martz also possesses over a decade of legislation drafting experience.

In 2008, Mr. Martz founded Martz Legal to serve as general counsel to a number of businesses without an in-house legal team. The scope of legal services includes: business formation/licensing, board of director counsel, buy/sell agreements, vendor contract negotiation, employment agreements, consumer disputes, federal/state regulation compliance, manufacturer-dealer sales and service agreements, executive compensation negotiation and NFL player contract negotiation.

Mr. Martz established Title Nation in 2014. Title Nation is the only property settlement company affiliated with Kagan Law Group, and is licensed to provide residential/commercial title transfer and refinance transactions. In addition to title transfers, Mr. Martz’s real estate practice areas cover deed preparation/amendments, residential/commercial lease review, HOA counsel and loan modification education among other essential real estate services.

Mr. Martz attended Davidson College for his undergraduate degree and the University of Baltimore School of Law for his juris doctorate. He is licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Mr. Martz is a member of the American Bar Association, Anne Arundel Bar Association and National Association of Dealer Counsel. He is a licensed mediator and NFL Players Association (“NFLPA”) contract advisor.

Mr. Martz and his family are residents of Annapolis. Mr. Martz and his wife Erin belong to the Anne Arundel Medical Center Building Traditions Society and Eastport Civic Society.
