Before joining Meagher + Geer, Vanessa clerked for the Honorable Daniel C. Moreno of the Fourth Judicial District Court of Minnesota, where she gained valuable insight into judicial decision-making and case management.

Vanessa earned her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. During law school, she:

•Competed as a finalist and won Best Brief in the Gender and Sexuality Moot Court Competition at Michigan State University
•Represented clients in federal court as a certified student attorney with the Federal Immigration Litigation Clinic
•Volunteered with the National Immigrant Justice Center through the Asylum Law Project
•Worked with a local immigration firm on humanitarian, family-based, and employment matters

Vanessa graduated magna cum laude from the College of St. Benedict with a B.A. in Hispanic Studies and English Literature. Prior to law school, she worked in advertising at a local agency for three years.

Vanessa also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Minnesota Law School, where she coaches students in written and oral advocacy for a civil rights-focused moot court competition.
