Biography

Victor Kotec is a Partner in the New York office of London Fischer LLP, where he focuses on counseling and defending clients on general liability matters and litigation. His decades of proven, extensive litigation experience includes defending various national and multinational property owners, real estate developers, contractors, subcontractors, municipal agencies, engineering and safety consultants, and insurers. Mr. Kotec's civil defense practice is concentrated on matters involving general liability, construction/New York 'Labor Law' liability, and premises liability matters. His experience also includes defending matters involving construction design defects, property damage, hospitality liability, and automobile liability. He regularly advises clients on issues pertaining to litigation and pre-suit defense, risk transfers, loss prevention measures, and cost-control methods.

Mr. Kotec routinely successfully defends and resolves pre- and post-suit matters involving multi-million-dollar exposure, from initial incident-reporting up through dispositive motion practice, mediation, trial, and appeal. He places particular emphasis and directed efforts on early incident investigation, with hands-on involvement, to develop viable defenses to any potential future claims, as well as aggressively pursuing risk transfer avenues to hold all potential culpable actors responsible.

Mr. Kotec has also been called upon to serve as excess monitoring counsel to protect against excess/high exposure of clients, in which he evaluates and reassesses primary defense counsels' prior handling of matters and then works in conjunction with primary defense counsel and his clients to recalibrate and implement additional defense solutions to guide matters towards a successful resolution.

On a personal level, Victor is an avid fan of domestic and international sports and a film/TV series buff, and has been a member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance.
