Biography

Virginia Powell is an associate with Starnes Davis Florie’s Mobile office. Virginia’s practice is devoted to civil litigation, specializing in commercial litigation. She also represents a variety of businesses and professionals in personal injury and wrongful death claims, bad faith actions, business and contractual claims, products liability and construction claims, and premises liability matters.

Virginia graduated from Vanderbilt Law School where she actively volunteered with the Legal Aid Society. She also attended the University of Alabama and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in both English and Spanish. Before law school, Virginia taught English to Spanish-speaking executives and team members of DHL and Mayca in Heredia, Costa Rica.

Community Involvement

Virginia served as Chairwoman of the Mobile Bar Association's 2025 Law Day Committee, leading a series of events centered on the national theme, 'Out of Many, One.' Her efforts included organizing a student art and essay contest with over 130 entries, a Judicial Day at the federal courthouse featuring local judges and a student mock trial.

In addition, Virginia coordinated The Liberty Bell Award and organized the annual Law Day Luncheon with remarks from Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Sarah Stewart. Under her leadership, the events promoted civic education and highlighted the legal system's role in fostering unity and justice.
