Biography

Virginia Hammerle is the co-founder of Hammerle Finley Law Firm, serving clients throughout Dallas/Ft. Worth and the surrounding areas for more than 30 years. Ms. Hammerle is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and was voted a SuperLawyer in 2012 and 2013.   Ms. Hammerle is an experienced trial lawyer, having tried more than 100 civil cases to completion. She has represented clients in complex civil matters, including:   A dispute involving several hundred mortgage purchases under a master purchase and servicing agreement. A class action from the plaintiff’s side. A work-out of a $11 million loan in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. Sequestrations involving dairy cattle, multi-million dollar aircraft and collateral on a floor-plan loan. Disputes regarding shareholder, partnership and non-competition matters. A breach of fiduciary duty case involving multi-trust and guardianship litigation. Consumer cases involving deceptive trade practice actions, fraud and breach of contract. Loan work-out and auction of over 100 properties.   Ms. Hammerle expanded her practice to include  the area of “Elder Law” which addresses the convergence of legal needs with the social, psychological, medical, and financial needs of individuals. In the planning stages of Elder law it can include issues such as power of attorney, medical and burial directives, estate planning and more. Specific Elder Law issues include dementia, nursing home care, Elder abuse or neglect, as well as Medicare.   Ms. Hammerle is a Member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys and she is certified by the State Bar of Texas as Ad Litem. Additionally she is a member of the WealthCounsel and the National Care Planning Council.   Ms. Hammerle is licensed and admitted to practice before  Texas Courts and in the following Federal courts: Eastern District of Texas, Northern District of Texas, Southern District of Texas, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Hammerle has worked with the Senate Health and Human Resources Committee and has testified before the Texas Senate Jurisprudence Committee on issues relating to aging and guardianship.   Founded in 1984, Hammerle Finley Law Firm has more than 20 employees, including 7 senior level lawyers. The firm’s headquarters are located in Lewisville, Texas, with offices in Dallas, Plano, Corinth and Denton.   Ms. Hammerle served on the Boards of the Dallas County Children’s Advocacy Center and the Denton County Children’s Advocacy Center. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of Trinity Medical Center for 10 years, serving as Chairman of the Board for three years. She was a founder and President of the Highland Village Parks Foundation and was instrumental in arranging for the purchase of a $1.3 million property for use by the Foundation, the City and non-profits.   Ms. Hammerle is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the National Care Planning Council, WealthCounsel and the Texas Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She is also a member of the Denton County Bar Association as well as the Denton County Real Estate, Probate and Trust Section.   She is a member of the Texas Association of Bank Counsel and approved counsel for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. She served as counsel for the Resolution Trust Corporation, where she was a member of the elite SWAT team.   A frequent speaker at professional and community seminars, Ms. Hammerle has authored LegalTalk columns for 30 years and had her own radio show. Her articles have been published in the Dallas Morning News, The Denton Record Chronicle, The Lewisville News, The Denton Business & Community News, Senior Living Magazine and Cross-Timbers Gazette, to name a few.
