About Attorney Awards

Biography

Yandy Reyes is an American born, first-in-family to graduate college and law school, first-in-family to serve in the U.S. Army as a decorated commissioned officer, and first-in-family to become a licensed attorney.

At the university level, Attorney Reyes excelled because of his insatiable curiosity to learn more, to do his best, and to strive for excellence always, without compromise, and no shortcuts. While in John Jay College, CUNY, Attorney Reyes maintained a job, a 3.93 GPA (honors), and earned a Black Belt in Goyu Karate and a Brown Belt in Judo.

While in law school, Attorney Reyes earned awards for top marks, inter alias, in “Elder Law” and “Legal Profession,” the former becoming his preferred area of law, and the latter being the code of ethics that governs attorneys. Immediately, Attorney Reyes knew that helping those in need, ethically and professionally, plan for their future, empowering them with advice, would be his calling. Attorney Reyes, moreover, became a Justice in Our Community Fellow working with Legal Aid where he saw, firsthand, the access to justice issues pervasive in our communities. Re:Yes Law PLLC was created with access to justice facilitation in mind.

After law school, Attorney Reyes litigated hundreds of matters in Civil Courts and Supreme Courts of New York State in New York City, Bronx, Staten Island, and Brooklyn. He completed countless conferences (with judges), motions for relief (including oral arguments), trials, and settlements with adversaries. He established a profound understanding of the intricate inner workings of the court system, noticing the particular hardships faced by pro se litigants (individuals without an attorney who handle their own case).

In his nine-year stint with the U.S. Army, National Guard, Attorney Reyes excelled as an Artillery commissioned officer, serving as a Fire Direction Officer, a Platoon Leader, and a Fire Support Officer. Attorney Reyes developed a deep understanding related to how to effectively deploy the “King of Battle” (that is, Artillery Firepower) to help Infantry Soldiers gain the upper hand. After successfully completing the assigned missions, his higher authorities awarded Attorney Reyes two Army Achievement Medals in two separate years. To see awards, click here.

Attorney Reyes developed a keen mind capable of problem-solving complex matters in quick fashion, even under intense pressure. That allowed him to resolve problematic legal matters early to avoid continued litigation and cost, while simultaneously and judiciously litigating matters to increase their value. Attorney Reyes understands that your particular matter demands a particular solution–of course, if there were a “one-size-fits-all solution” or silver bullet to your problem, you would solve it yourself.

As a result, Attorney Reyes strives to provide a law firm that is easily accessible–one where the attorney speaks with his clients, especially when it matters, not just a secretary, a law firm that timely keeps appointments and communicates updates to its clients.
