Attorney Awards

Jack regularly serves as mediator and arbitrator in civil cases of all kinds, excluding domestic relations. He is also certified as an appellate mediator and serves on a number of panels of neutrals for arbitration and mediation. Jack has a general civil litigation practice in both state and federal courts. Throughout the years, Jack has represented many businesses and individuals, including banks, lenders, and financial institutions, in the enforcement of their rights and also in their defense in the areas of general tort, lender liability, commercial litigation, bankruptcy, recovery of collateral and negotiations, forbearance, and workouts.

Why did you become an attorney?

I became an attorney because I wanted to spend my career helping individuals and businesses with their legal needs. Additionally, I foresaw that the practice would allow me to meet and work for clients from many varied walks of life. I sought a career that would never be boring and in which I would always be challenged. Finally, I also expected that in becoming an attorney I would be in a good position to have more control over my lifestyle and my own destiny.

Who has inspired you in your career?

Although he was not an attorney, my father was a successful engineer and businessman. He inspired me with his honesty, integrity, and hard work to accomplish a goal. He was kind in dealing with those with whom he came in contact. The traits I learned from him transfer into any lifestyle and my profession. My beloved partner, Karl Friedman, also inspired me in similar ways. He was a fantastic example of the practice of law and, even more so, being a friend and counselor to all who sought his advice. In different ways, both my father and Karl were also role models by being extremely active in their contributions to their community.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

When not practicing law, my favorite activity is being with my wife of almost 50 years and our three children, their spouses, and our grandchildren. Additionally I enjoy working on my farm and hunting/shooting with our two sons and son-in-law.
