About Attorney Awards

Biography

For almost four decades, Attorney Alan Cohen has helped businesses recover what they are owed through focused commercial litigation. A Clark University graduate (B.A., 1980) and Washington University School of Law alumnus (J.D., 1983), he is admitted in Massachusetts and in federal court, including the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts and the First and Fifth Circuit Courts of Appeals. Martindale-Hubbell has awarded him its highest AV rating, and he is active in the Commercial Law League of America and the Massachusetts Bar Association. Attorney Cohen is known for acting quickly and strategically rather than relying on repeated demand letters and unproductive calls. His “Get You Paid” philosophy means promptly filing suit and, when the facts support it, pursuing powerful tools such as ex parte bank attachments and reach-and-apply injunctions against assets and income streams. He also prepares, perfects, and enforces mechanics’ liens. Even with an aggressive posture, he maintains professionalism and gives clients options to preserve customer relationships. His experience spans a wide range of industries, from lenders and commercial landlords to construction and food suppliers, consultants, accountants, and law firms. He frequently speaks to industry groups on collecting delinquent debts in Massachusetts.

United States Senator Paul Tsongas, 1983. Senior Editor, Washington University Journal of Urban and Contemporary Law, 1982-1983.
