Alternative Dispute Resolution

Ever increasing numbers of parties are choosing to resolve their legal disputes outside the courtroom through mediation or arbitration. That is why Sirote & Permutt has a team of attorneys who are well versed in the methods of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) - mediation and arbitration.

Our mediators have received extensive training in the skills of negotiation and conflict resolution and are registered as mediators on the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution State Court Mediator Roster, the American Arbitration Association Panel of Neutrals, the Alabama Appellate Court Mediator Roster, the American Health Lawyers Association and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama Panel of Neutrals. Our mediators have helped parties settle their differences pre-suit, during litigation, and on appeal. Through mediation, we are able help the parties reach a fair settlement of their dispute, saving them time and money through resolution in a manner consistent with their objectives. The voluntary mediation resolution process can also allow solutions agreed between the parties that could not be obtained through a lawsuit.

Our ADR Practice Team also has attorneys who have been trained in the skills of arbitration and recognized by inclusion on the American Arbitration Association Panel of Neutrals for Arbitration, the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution Roster of Arbitrators, and the American Health Lawyers Association. Many parties and their attorneys have shown great confidence in these arbitrators by entrusting them with the authority to decide their disputes in a final and binding manner.

These attorneys are experienced litigators who now dedicate a significant portion of their practice to serving as mediators and arbitrators, and the group is led by a former circuit judge and Alabama Supreme Court Justice. Consequently, Sirote is well prepared to help you resolve any type of civil dispute.

Diversity

Sirote & Permutt has made diversity in the workplace a key pillar of the firm since we opened our doors nearly 70 years ago. Because we understand that everyone benefits from a diverse group of people coming together to share ideas shaped by their individual experiences, Sirote & Permutt is home to lawyers from a wide array of backgrounds.  

The promotion of religious and racial tolerance always has been and always will be an important aspect of our firm. Several Sirote attorneys were at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement and were involved in some of the most significant causes of the era. 

Today, more than a quarter of our attorneys are women or minorities. In the 1970s we hired our first female attorney, and she became one of Alabama’s first female partners at a law firm. A few years later Sirote became the first major law firm in Alabama to welcome an African-American partner, again leading the state in diversity.

Our attorneys hold numerous professional and civic leadership roles and have been recognized locally and statewide for their contributions to the communities in which we practice law.
