Eckert Seamans Professional Liability practice group consists of over 25 attorneys who regularly defend claims against professionals, including claims of professional malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, securities violations and accounting wrongdoings, among many other issues. We represent physicians, hospitals, health care systems, nurses, dentists, podiatrists and other health care professionals; accountants; lawyers; clergy; insurance brokers and agents; architects; engineers, and other service professionals.

Our attorneys are among the most respected health care defense experts in the country. The complexity of this practice area is as diverse as the clients we serve. We routinely represent medical providers and health care organizations of all types, including physicians and specialists, hospitals, health insurance companies, nurses, nursing homes, pharmaceutical companies, and professional corporations. We provide counseling and are involved in litigation concerning insurance issues, medical malpractice defense, pharmacy liability, physicians' rights, regulatory and licensure issues, and reimbursement, to name just some of the matters we handle.

Lawyer liability is another particular area of focus for our firm. We represent lawyers and law firms in matters involving environmental liability, ethics consulting litigation, intellectual property, internal firm disputes, securities/RICO issues, fraud and/or misrepresentation, wrongful use of civil proceedings, malicious prosecution, and other issues.

In order to meet our goals, our firm has established a Diversity Committee, which includes lawyers (both members and associates) from a variety of offices and practice groups. The Diversity Committee also includes a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, leading members of our practice groups and managing partners at our offices. The Diversity Committee is charged with coordinating recruitment and retention of female and minority attorneys as well as the development and implementation of policies which foster diversity at all levels of the firm. It works closely with the firm’s Hiring, Associate and Executive Committees.
