RICO

Fried Frank's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) practice, has extensive experience in all aspects of complex RICO litigation, both civil and criminal.

The Racketeer-Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, known as RICO, is a potent litigation weapon, providing both severe criminal penalties and treble damages and attorneys' fees in civil cases. Enacted in 1970 and originally designed to combat the influence of organized crime in legitimate businesses, its broad provisions have been applied to almost all types of commercial dealings.

Fried Frank attorneys are active in trial and appellate matters in federal courts throughout the US involving RICO claims. We represent securities firms, accounting firms, insurance companies and other financial institutions, as well as manufacturers, retailers and major labor unions, in a wide variety of RICO litigations. The group also works closely with members of our securities enforcement and regulation, white-collar crime and internal investigations practices.
