Transportation Litigation

GrayRobinson's Transportation Litigation Practice stresses client involvement and results-oriented, cost-effective litigation. Everyone may say it, but we truly live by it. We understand that the best possible results be achieved only when the defense attorney and the claims specialist work together. We strive to involve the claims in the decision-making process and explain why we believe a particular course of action should be followed. We emphasize early and aggressive intervention to attempt to quickly resolve claims. We also appreciate the effectiveness and value of the mediation process.

This does not mean that we are afraid to try cases. While we realize this early intervention is generally the most cost-effective strategy, we also realize that some cases, with the consent and involvement of the client and insurer, simply have to be tried. In that vein, our lawyers are admitted to practice at every level of the state and federal court systems. If a case is referred to the appellate level, our attorneys are experienced in representing clients as both appellees and appellants. Many of our senior lawyers are retired trial and appellate court judges.

Our practice also incorporates the latest technological advances to ensure that our legal services are delivered in the most cost-effective, timely and convenient manner to the client. We have developed and utilize a computerized document control system to manage complex litigation. This technology enables us to save our clients time and money in research and engage in online document sharing, communication and other information exchange via email.

We are also familiar with and abide by defense counsel guidelines. We employ an automated status report system which, ensures the client is advised of the status of a case at least every 30 days or as often as requested.

We are approved panel counsel for The Hertz Co. and a number of insurance carriers, including CNA, DPIC, USF&G, FLMIC, Progressive, Prudential, Hanover, Liberty Mutual, Kemper, St. Paul and Wausau. We handle claims for these and other carriers not only in the Central Florida region but also throughout the entire state. We also have served as "smoke jumpers," providing our litigation experience and support in major cases throughout the country, as requested by the carrier.

We handle the full range of insurance defense matters, including commercial, general liability, transportation casualty, uninsured motorist, real estate broker and professional malpractice. In addition, we handle first- and third-party coverage disputes, including coverage opinions and coverage declaratory judgment actions as necessary. Finally, we have a strong practice in handling maritime and admiralty claims.
