The firm was trial counsel for The Tobacco Institute in a nationally followed conspiracy and product liability trial in St. Clair County, Illinois, and it has defended The Tobacco Institute in numerous healthcare recovery lawsuits in various venues.

The firm serves as trial counsel for Phillip Morris USA Inc. and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as it currently handles both class action and individual cases for both companies. Larry Hepler and the entire tobacco team are an integral part of the Price v. Philip Morris USA Inc. case, which is the first lights cigarettes class action to be tried in the nation. As trial counsel for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, the trial team actively prepared for trial of the companion lights class action originally set in October, 2003 and Mr. Hepler argued the motion for stay of the trial in the appellate process which was ultimately granted by the Illinois Supreme Court.
