Architectural Malpractice

To err is human; even with the proliferation of computer-assisted design tools, mistakes are still made in the design and construction of new and renovated structures. The key to successfully prosecuting or defending a claim asserting a violation of the standard of practice is to understand the role of the architect on a particular project. The Kitch firm has the ability to realistically assess the alleged error, evaluate the viability of the claim, and avoid unnecessary expenses in the prosecution or defense of the claim.

We have assisted owners in evaluating and successfully pursuing claims in new construction and renovation projects for designs that fail to comply with governmental requirements and that contributed to significant cost overruns. We have also evaluated the performance of design professionals in potentially causing or contributing to delays on projects.

The Kitch firm was co-founded in Detroit in 1969 by Richard A. Kitch and Richard F. Suhrheinrich, now a Senior Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge.
