Securities Disputes

The Kitch firm offers experienced, knowledgeable and qualified legal counsel in securities law and litigation. Whether the client is a full-service, publicly traded broker-dealer sued due to a decrease in the investor's principal investment or an individual who lost money due to misguided investment advice, we work with the client to realistically assess its goals and budget before establishing a course of action. Securities litigation can be complex and costly. Clients who choose qualified and aggressive legal counsel to represent their interests--like the Kitch firm--maximize their chances for attaining the best possible results.

Our clients primarily include broker-dealers, registered representatives, licensed securities salespersons and some individual investors. Our practice includes:

  • NASD and non-NASD matters: defend and pursue claims relating to investment advice, investment account management and diversification issues, fraud, suitability, fiduciary duty issues and churning issues.
  • SEC violation claims: defend and pursue claims relating to Rule 10(b) and 10(b)(5) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
  • Michigan Securities Act violation claims: defend and pursue claims relating to MCLA 451.810, et seq., relating to false or misleading statements.

We also provide our securities clients with access to all of the firm's resources, including our commercial litigation, corporate law and tax capabilities.

The Kitch firm was co-founded in Detroit in 1969 by Richard A. Kitch and Richard F. Suhrheinrich, now a Senior Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge.
