Transportation

Train, commercial truck and bus companies’ failure to meet established mass transportation standards is also a failure to protect others, and can lead to catastrophic incidents, serious permanent injuries or even the wrongful death of drivers and passengers.

Sadly, the same can be said of accidents involving personal transportation such as cars and motorcycles, where someone else’s negligence, such as an 18-wheeler or other commercial vehicle, leads to permanent injuries or fatalities.

In all transportation cases involving the permanently damaging consequences of someone else’s neglect, our catastrophic injury team fights to hold wrongdoers accountable for their part in causing pain and injury.

Train, Truck and Bus Injuries

Motley Rice attorneys have the knowledge, experience and resources to research, litigate and resolve cases involving train, commercial truck and bus crashes. We represent victims and victims' family members in personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits seeking accountability and compensation.

Motley Rice is positioned to handle the legal, technical and financial aspects of many types of transportation-related case and our attorneys have litigated numerous complex transportation lawsuits. We’ve worked with experts and incident re-creation specialists to build the strongest cases possible for our clients.

If you or someone you know is interested in seeking legal recourse as a result of a bus, train or commercial truck incident, contact Motley Rice attorney and former U.S. Department of Transportation Inspector General Mary Schiavo or attorney Kevin Dean by calling 1 800.768.4026 or completing this online form.

Commercial Truck Injuries

Crashes involving tractor trailers are often complex and crash reconstruction experts are rarely able to name just one cause of the incident. Factors analyzed in the investigation include driver training, weather conditions, highway conditions and traffic signals, as well as the design, manufacture and maintenance of the vehicle and its component parts.

Bus Crash Passenger Injuries

A major cause of bus-related passenger injury is being thrown from a seat or ejected. The main safety protection in buses is called ‘compartmentalization,’ designed to keep passengers in the seat compartment if the bus sustains an impact or rolls over. However, compartmentalization has not proven effective enough protection in some cases involving bus and motorcoach passengers, including tour buses.

Train Crash Injuries

Our firm has experience representing people harmed in commuter train crashes as well as helping family members with wrongful death cases involving railroad tragedies. Our firm also has experience handling property damage cases related to railroad incidents.

In 2014, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) identified human errors and track flaws as the two leading causes of train wrecks. According to the FRA, these two factors alone account for more than 70 percent of all train accidents.
