Nyemaster Goode’s Governmental Affairs Department represents clients before the Iowa Legislature, the Governor’s Office, state agencies, and governmental subdivisions ensuring that our clients’ voices are heard at all levels of state and local government. The Governmental Affairs Department’s clients are diverse, ranging from Fortune 500 businesses to state trade associations to nonprofit groups.
While the Legislature is in session, the Governmental Affairs Department’s attorneys are always present at the statehouse representing Nyemaster Goode’s clients. Administrative Rulemaking
Many of the details of state law come in the form of administrative rules. The Governmental Affairs Department assists with evaluating, commenting on, and drafting administrative rules throughout the rulemaking process, including appearing before the Administrative Rules Review Committee and working with staff at state agencies.
Bill Drafting
The Governmental Affairs Department helps turn clients’ legislative proposals into legislative language and bills that achieve clients’ objectives under Iowa law.
Campaign Finance and Elections

The Governmental Affairs Department advises clients on Iowa’s campaign finance laws and develops strategies for participation in campaigns and elections, including the creation and effective use of political action committees

Thousands of bills and amendments are filed each year at the Iowa Legislature. We track, analyze, and report on legislative proposals at the Legislature quickly and accurately so that clients stay informed of the legislative process.
