Van Cott’s defense attorneys aggressively defend all kinds and levels of criminal prosecutions and always work for our clients' best interests.

A misdemeanor conviction may destroy the life and livelihood of one person as much as a felony conviction might destroy someone else.  Our criminal defense attorneys have significant experience in handling investigations, pretrial motions, and jury trials at state or federal levels.  We have defended a wide variety of criminal cases, including murder, sexual assault, burglary, arson, robbery, theft and other property crimes, Internet crimes, fraud, embezzlement, money laundering, firearms offenses, drug prosecutions and DUI.  Mary Corporon is "death qualified" to represent a defendant in a capital murder prosecution, under Rule 8 of the Utah Rules of Criminal Procedure, by reason of the number of felony cases she has tried to jury verdict.

We have decades of experience in challenging unconstitutional vehicle stops or arrests, illegal searches and interrogations, and the constitutionality of criminal statutes themselves.  When necessary, we have taken these challenges on appeal to the Utah Supreme Court and the federal Circuit Courts.  We have also petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court.
