Commercial Lending

Verrill Dana’s Commercial Lending Practice Group focuses on the representation of borrowers as well as banks, finance companies, insurance companies and other lenders in all aspects of commercial lending, including real estate lending, asset-based lending and equipment lease financing. This work includes loan syndications; corporate lending for working capital, capital expenditures and related purposes; local lender's counsel representation of lenders in large, multistate loan transactions; and real estate lending for the acquisition and construction of projects in all real estate sectors -- including retail, office and industrial projects -- and permanent financing of these projects (including ‘conduit’ lending for securitized real estate investments). The group also has extensive experience with complex commercial loan facilities, and with HUD, FAME, SBA, Farm Credit, Rural Development and other government-supported loans.

Our attorneys advise clients in negotiating and structuring loans, and troubled loan workouts. In addition, attorneys in our Commercial Lending Group have served as bond counsel in connection with numerous tax-exempt bond financings in the State of Maine and have prepared form commercial loan documents for several Maine lenders.

Verrill Dana represents lenders and borrowers throughout the Northeast, as well as nationally. Commercial lending clients include Bank of America, N.A., KeyBank, N.A., People’s United Bank, N.A., and Bangor Savings Bank.
