Members of Verrill Dana’s Sports Law Group represent individuals, corporations, associations, and educational institutions in all aspects of sports and recreational law. The Group provides legal advice and representation on the professional, intercollegiate, and interscholastic levels. Lawyers within the Sports Law practice are experienced in employment and labor related issues, the drafting and negotiation of contracts and compensation packages, immigration issues, antitrust issues, scholastic and collegiate compliance matters, NCAA, Title IX, licensing and related issues, lobbying and legislative matters, compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, risk management, and federal and state governmental affairs. The lawyers in the Sports Law Group are focused on delivering the following:

  • Full service representation and pre-draft advice to amateur high school and collegiate athletes anticipating a professional career.
  • Representation to professional athletes in contract negotiations.
  • Promotion of product endorsements and personal appearances for client athletes.
  • Assist professional and Olympic athletes in cases involving doping charges, team eligibility issues, and commercial misappropriation.
  • Assist athletes in obtaining non-immigrant and immigrant status in the United States.
