Oil & Gas Litigation

Watkins & Eager has decades of experience handling complex oil and gas litigation in state and federal courts both for majors and independents. Our trial lawyers have successfully represented energy and oil & gas companies of all sizes, including major publicly-held companies, in litigating a broad range of industry-related disputes in state and federal courts.

We have successfully represented energy companies in lawsuits involving issues such as breach of contract or implied covenant, payment of royalties, quiet title, lease cancellation, adverse possession, joint operating agreements, unitization agreements, well production issues, gas purchase contracts, and environmental matters. The firm has also represented clients in a significant number of cases involving claims by multiple landowners, royalty owners and others related to oil and gas production and/or development. Some of the cases have included class action allegations, but most have involved either one lawsuit with multiple plaintiffs or multiple lawsuits. In such cases, the coordinated handling and efficient analysis of large volumes of information has been required. Our lawyers have tried numerous energy and oil & gas cases during the course of their commercial litigation practice.
