In a two-and-a-half year span, from October 2013 to April 2016, Wheeler Trigg O'Donnell lawyers won five consecutive fully argued appeals for our clients before the Colorado Supreme Court. During that same time, the firm also won seven appeals in five different federal circuit courts of appeals and eight victories in various state appellate courts. These results demonstrate that WTO lawyers do not quit or lose focus in their efforts to achieve clients’ goals through the appellate stage.

WTO lawyers have prosecuted appeals and drafted writs in state and federal appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, across a very broad range of substantive legal areas. We have particular experience with appeals involving product liability, professional liability, commercial, franchise, employment, and insurance matters across numerous industries.

Our teams prepare for every case as if it will go all the way to a verdict, and we weigh every verdict as if it may be appealed. In this way, we help clients evaluate their cases over the long haul so they can make early, informed decisions regarding the value of a case within the context of their larger business priorities. 80% of WTO associates have clerked in state appellate courts or federal district or appellate courts, so even at the most junior levels, our teams are comprised of lawyers who are steeped in the best practices of appellate brief writing.

In doing so, we take into account the background, experience level, and needs of each associate. We also have a formal professional development program. In addition to actual, hands-on trial work, we offer all attorneys workshops with the firm's senior partners and trial presentation consultants.

We encourage and support our minority and female attorneys' interests in specialty bar associations, programs, and networking.
