Real Estate

Wolf Haldenstein’s Real Estate practice lawyers are highly skilled litigators and trained accountants who have successfully represented clients in transactional and operating disputes, ranging from the simplest sales to the most complex multi-party transactions. Wolf Haldenstein’s Real Estate legal team has effectively negotiated and litigated joint venture disputes, appraisal proceedings, construction defects, insurance claims, foreclosure defenses, actions to quiet title, actions for specific performance, Section 421-a matters, closings, mortgage and lending agreements and traditional landlord/tenant disputes. Among its most noteworthy accomplishments, the Firm achieved the largest tenant settlement in history in Roberts v. Tishman Speyer, 13 N.Y.3d 270 (N.Y. 2009), a class action establishing rent stabilization rights for more than 27,500 current and former tenants of New York City’s iconic Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village housing complexes. The Firm has litigated numerous cases involving real estate limited partnerships and Real Estate Investment Trusts (“REITs”) and provides counsel to on REIT investments (see REITS).  The Firm also has considerable expertise in litigating and resolving disputes among partners, LLC members, investors, and other co-venturers who hold substantial real estate assets. We have represented our clients in matters involving the development and operation of hotels, shopping malls, commercial buildings, multi-family residential properties, and virtually all other types of real estate. Because these types of disputes are more and more finding their way into the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court, our vast experience in that Court has proved to be an invaluable asset for our clients.

Wolf Haldenstein’s Real Estate practice team includes highly trained lawyers with complex litigation, jury trial, accounting and auditing experience who are supported by lawyers in all practice areas, including Litigation, Business and Commercial, Trusts and Estates, Tax and Securities.
