International Law

Wong Fleming represents clients in projects involving long-term counseling in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. This includes onboard representation of non-U.S. interests, representation of multi-national enterprises, or assistance to clients outside the U.S. The firm maintains an Of Counsel relationship with Hamburg, Germany – based Schomerus. The firm also maintains a panel of litigation counsel in Europe. The firm also provides strategic business advice, political and economic risk analysis, and cultural intelligence. We conduct international government relations activities, engaging diplomatic missions, private sector entities and coalitions, international institutions, domestic and international media, and Non-governmental organizations (“NGO’s”). Wong Fleming formulates and implements strategies to penetrate foreign markets, including international trade missions. We identify and manage project teams of investors, public relations professionals, government relations specialists, and professionals in foreign markets, and identification, screening, and monitoring of international joint venture partners.

Our experience includes representing multinational companies before Federal authorities. Wong Fleming attorneys have also successfully represented private clients before multilateral entities such as the World Bank; the Inter-American Development Bank (“IADB”); and the Asian Development Bank (“ADB”); as well as U.S.-based development entities such as the United States Agency for International Development (“USAID”), Ex-Im Bank and the Overseas Private Insurance Corporation (“OPIC”). Also of note is our experience representing clients before the International Finance Corporation (“IFC”), a private sector arm of the World Bank, as well as the InterAmerican Investment Corporation (“IIC”), a similarly structured organization under the auspices of the IADB.

We also represent companies that offer products and services to governments outside their own countries, including matters concerning foreign military sales and the sale of products subject to export controls. For example, we have counseled domestic companies on sales to foreign governments and counseled foreign corporations in their marketing to the U.S. government. In addition, we work with domestic, foreign and state‑owned companies in commercial dealings in the United States and abroad, particularly in the areas of oil and gas, medical equipment, and healthcare personnel.
