Peyton Prospere has been engaged in the area of public law and finance for thirty-eight years. That experience includes the discharge of responsibilities at the highest levels in state government as State Treasurer, Chief Legal Counsel to Governor Ronnie Musgrove, and as General Counsel to the Mississippi Development Authority. As State Treasurer, Peyton supervised the issuance in 2003 of $363 million of State bonds representing the State incentive package for the Nissan manufacturing facility; this was the first State of Mississippi bond issue involving variable rate debt.

With over twenty-five years in private practice, Peyton has represented a variety of public entities (state, county, and municipal) and participated in numerous public finance transactions, as bond counsel, issuer's counsel, underwriter's counsel, and counsel to the trustee. Additionally, Peyton has advised private sector clients on business formation and corporate governance issues, and completed private placement offerings on their behalf.

Peyton is currently serving as the Honorary Consul for Germany in Mississippi for which he was appointed by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. In that capacity, Peyton attends to consular services and duties in Mississippi, reporting to the German Consul General in Atlanta.
