OUR HISTORY

We are one of the most diversified and respected law firms in western Massachusetts. With a lineage extending back to the mid-1800's, we carry on the legacy of excellence left by three prominent figures in Berkshire County's history: Lincoln Cain, Stephen Hibbard and Frederick Myers. Based in Pittsfield and Great Barrington, we serve all of Berkshire County. We also have an active practice in New York, with many of our lawyers being admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and New York. Our clients include businesses with operations across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States, and abroad.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We begin by listening to clients. By understanding the challenges our clients face, we work with our clients to shape achievable goals and to identify and implement effective strategies to reach those goals. We succeed when our clients do. We evaluate ourselves through their eyes.

OUR SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE

We like our clients to regard us as a network of legal resources. A lead attorney is responsible for identifying the needed expertise for each project so that each client benefits from the firm's best performance delivered in the most timely and efficient manner. We pride ourselves on our credentials. In addition to attending and achieving honors at top law schools, many of our attorneys served as judicial clerks and have experience with major metropolitan law firms. Our more senior lawyers have won honors and special recognition in their fields of practice. We invest in the continuing education of all of our attorneys, with our most seasoned lawyers often participating as faculty of those programs.

OUR CITIZENSHIP

We are committed not just to providing premium legal services but to supporting our community through philanthropy. We regularly provide pro bono legal services and many of our lawyers serve on the governing boards of both local and national charities. We are active members of the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce and the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce.

We also support our community through direct giving. For well over a decade, our special philanthropic focus has been education. We are regular sponsors of the educational programs offered by local cultural venues to Berkshire County school age children, as well as a county-wide educational enrichment initiative that serves all 13 public school districts within Berkshire County.
