About this firm

The law firm of Carluzzo Rochkind & Smith, P.C. was founded in 1987 by three lawyers coming from varied backgrounds, but sharing a common strength - experience in the courtroom. One partner was a former criminal prosecutor, another criminal defense attorney and the third a civil trial attorney. In the ensuing twenty years the firm has grown through the addition of attorneys having similar trial experience. Carluzzo Rochkind & Smith has attracted legal talent from law firms large and small, plaintiff and defense. As our office has grown we have developed close ties to the community we serve. We understand the values and interests of the citizens of Manassas, Prince William County and Northern Virginia. We also understand the challenges of businesses operating in the community.

We recognize that lawyers are often called on to serve as crisis managers. At Carluzzo Rochkind & Smith, we provide a full range of legal services to help you through those challenging times. Whether the crisis takes the form of divorce, auto accident, child custody & support, criminal charges, personal injury, or the accidental death of a loved one, our attorneys know that the best result is obtained only through knowledge, experience and preparation.

Carluzzo Rochkind & Smith takes a similar approach to the business needs of our clients. Our experience in the courtroom gives us a unique perspective of the boardroom. Business formations and relationships, real estate transactions and construction projects present unique challenges. We understand the profit motives underlying business transactions. We also recognize that risk avoidance is preferable to litigation. At Carluzzo Rochkind & Smith, we help our business clients maximize opportunities while minimizing risks.

As a trial-centered law firm, we assess and develop every case from a trial perspective. Our strength in the courtroom allows us to provide the constructive guidance necessary to serve the diverse needs of our clients.

The attorneys at Carluzzo Rochkind & Smith are recognized as leaders in the local legal community. Over the last twenty years five of our attorneys have served as President of the Prince William County Bar Association. One partner was a charter Director of the Prince William County Bar Foundation and served on its executive Board. Other attorneys at Carluzzo Rochkind & Smith have served in positions on the Prince William County Bar Association Board of Directors and in a large number of committee positions. Our attorneys have been called upon to give educational lectures to other members of the legal community and have taught in local colleges and law schools.

We are an integral part of the Manassas community, participating in ways that go beyond our legal expertise. Attorneys at Carluzzo Rochkind & Smith serve on government boards and commissions, in civil and religious organization, in youth activities, in historic preservation endeavors and helped to establish the area's first free health clinic. We recognize the need to give back to our community. That same sense of duty and commitment is carried through to those we represent.
