I chose criminal defense from the beginning. Not as a second career, not as a pivot from prosecution — as a deliberate choice rooted in the belief that everyone accused of a crime deserves an attorney who is genuinely fighting for them, not just going through the motions.

I founded the Law Office of David D. White, PLLC in Austin in 2008. For 22 years I have handled criminal defense exclusively — DWI, drug charges, assault, felonies, federal charges, probation violations, and everything in between. Criminal defense is the only thing this firm does. That focus matters when your case is on the line.

I am licensed in the Western, Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of Texas, which means I handle both state and federal criminal matters across central Texas. My firm has offices in Austin and Georgetown, giving us a physical presence in both Travis County and Williamson County courts.

What separates this firm is straightforward: when you hire us, you get direct access to the attorneys handling your case. Not a paralegal, not a case manager, not a junior associate you have never met. My associate Kenneth Hines and I are the ones in the courtroom. My associate Taylor Kacir — a former Bell County prosecutor — runs our Georgetown office and handles Williamson County cases directly.

In the past year alone, our firm has had a first-degree felony drug charge dismissed at a suppression hearing in the 450th District Court after body camera footage contradicted the officer's account of the stop. We have had a felony conviction from 1999 overturned by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals after the Governor rejected a pardon. We have had a $500,000 bond reduced to $25,000 at a bond hearing in Travis County.
