The Law Office of Thomas A. Geelhoed helps people collect disability benefits when they have been turned down by the government. Social Security Disability is our only area of law. Our motto is "Doing good, and doing it well."
We help people with Social Security Disability claims. We help with adult worker claims, adult and child Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claims, disabled adult child (DAC) claims and overpayments and benefit terminations. Mostly we help people who have already been denied by the government, but sometimes we help people with their original application for benefits.
We also help with appeals beyond the hearing level. That can mean an appeal to the Appeals Council outside Washington, DC, or to the local federal court.
Our office is located in Grand Rapids, across the street from the Social Security hearing office. The Grand Rapids office covers much of west Michigan, including Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Muskegon and Holland. We sometimes handle case covered by the Lansing, Mt. Pleasant and Valparaiso, IN, hearing offices, those offices cover Battle Creek, Ludington, Big Rapids, Mt. Pleasant and Benton Harbor. We have even helped people with claims in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Because we are a local firm, we give more individualized service than the large "national" law firms. When you call, you talk to a lawyer, not a paralegal. We know you by your name, not your Social Security number. We are well acquainted with the stresses and hardships of people who need to file for disability. So, as we try to give you good legal service, we also try to explain the process and treat you as we would want to be treated.
