About this firm

The firm was established in 1929 by Joseph Jackson and Alex Smith, Sr. Upon their retirement, Charles Mayer and Alex Smith, Jr. were the two most senior members and the firm became Mayer & Smith. Following Caldwell Roberts' addition, the firm became Mayer, Smith & Roberts. In the 1950's the firm moved from downtown Shreveport to the historic Highland neighborhood which provides the firm and its clients easy access to all parts of the area.

Throughout its history, Mayer, Smith & Roberts, L.L.P. has consistently enjoyed a reputation for the highest legal work and ethical standards. We are committed to proactively representing our clients' interests in the tradition of honest, knowledgeable, and skilled advocacy practiced throughout our firm's history.

The firm's attorneys have tried cases to judges, juries, and administrative forums in virtually every venue within the state of Louisiana. The firm is the largest firm solely dedicated to litigation in Northwest Louisiana.

The firm's attorneys participate in legal and law-related activities, including presentation of seminars, teaching of paralegal classes, and coordinating of mock trial programs. The attorneys of Mayer, Smith & Roberts, L.L.P. participate in their Bar Association as officers and members of the Bar's executive committee. They are also active in community activities not related to the practice of law.
