Joel received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1990. Afterwards, Joel worked as a Nuclear/Environmental Engineer for the U.S. Department of Defense (Navy) in Charleston, SC and Vallejo, CA on the nuclear submarine refueling team.
