Why Hire An Appellate Attorney?

If you are the attorney who handled case all the way through trial, you are more familiar with that case than any other person. When it comes time to appeal, however, this is not always an advantage. The trial attorney is often so deeply entrenched in the factual and legal issues of the case that it is difficult to step outside and view the case critically and objectively to determine whether grounds for appeal exist and how best to present them. This skill is essential to any appeal, and it is one we practice day in and day out. We come in with a fresh set of eyes from the perspective of the appellate attorney, looking for errors which may provide grounds for appeal. We review the record the same way an appellate court will, which is extremely important in preparing your case for appeal.
