For more than 30 years, Mike Gillett has represented individuals and businesses in Washington's state and federal courts, and before local, state and federal agencies. His areas of practice include property boundary disputes, and land use and environmental litigation. He also assists clients with consumer protection and insurance coverage matters.
Mike began practicing law in 1980 as an associate with a small Seattle land use and environmental law firm. From 1985 to 1989, he served as a legislative assistant to former U.S. Representative Al Swift (D-Bellingham), and in this capacity worked on major amendments to several environmental and energy laws of significance to the Pacific Northwest, including the federal Superfund law, the Clean Air Act and the Federal Power Act. In 1989, Mike returned to Seattle, where he resumed the practice of law, continuing his emphasis on real estate, land use, natural resource and environmental law. In 2000, Mike associated with a small Seattle environmental law firm in order to lead the defense of a multi-million dollar environmental contamination case in both federal and state courts. Mike returned to his solo practice in 2005, establishing The Gillett Law Firm.
Mike lives in Seattle with his wife Teresa. They have two daughters in college, one at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and the other at Seattle University. He enjoys cooking good food for friends and family.
