Harold R. Bickham, a partner in the Indianapolis, Indiana office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP, concentrates on litigation and labor and employment law matters. He litigates a wide variety of cases in federal and state courts, including whistleblower and qui tam actions. Mr. Bickham's litigation experience includes alternative dispute resolution, discovery, investigations, trials and appeals. He has litigated cases in numerous county courts and the following federal jurisdictions: Northern District of Illinois; Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana; Western District of Kentucky; District of Maryland; District of Nebraska; Southern District of Ohio; Eastern District of Pennsylvania; District of Utah; and the District of Columbia Superior Court. Mr. Bickham served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, 1978-88; Senior Litigation Counsel, 1987-88; and Chief of the Civil Division,1988-2001. During his tenure at the United States Attorney's Office, he litigated a variety of matters under the Federal Tort Claims Act, False Claims Act, Controlled Substances Act, and environmental laws. He represented federal agencies in numerous employment discrimination claims filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. Mr. Bickham earned a B.A. from Purdue University and a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis. He is a member of the American, National and Marion County Bar Associations and is admitted to practice before the Indiana Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, and the U. S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. Mr. Bickham has served as chairman of the National Tournament Committee of the American Bridge Association and as a charter member of the American Bridge Association Foundation. He is a member of the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association.
