A native of North Carolina, Mr. Ivey is the managing partner of the firm's Columbus office. Mr. Ivey practices in the areas of medical malpractice, premises liability, retail liability, insurance defense, and workers' compensation defense. Mr. Ivey has tried numerous cases for clients throughout Georgia. Mr. Ivey is on the Board of Directors for the Stewart Community Home.

Data Protection and Risk Management

Mr. Ivey has participated as a speaker in three presentations on Enterprise Cyber Risk with particular emphasis on how the attorney client privilege and work product doctrine can assist in protecting the results of the risk assessment from discovery and disclosure in any future litigation. Mr. Ivey is also listed as one of the authors on the recently published white paper providing a comprehensive overview of Enterprise Cyber Risk.


Mr. Ivey is committed to helping employers avoid, resolve and prevail in employment disputes involving the full range of employment and labor issues. This includes litigation in state and federal courts and the representation of employers before administrative agencies over claims including: discrimination, harassment, retaliation, accommodation, and state torts such as negligent supervision and hiring, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, defamation, invasion of privacy, and wrongful discharge allegations.

General Liability

Mr. Ivey has served as defense counsel for many employers throughout Georgia in the defense of worker's compensation claims. Mr. Ivey has extensive experience in the defense of all types of worker's compensation claims.

Insurance Coverage

Mr. Ivey has represented numerous Insurance companies and their insureds in both first party and third party suits. Mr. Ivey has extensive experience in all aspects of Insurance defense from the filing of the case through trial. Mr. Ivey represents insurance companies and their insureds in both automobile and property cases.

Long Term Care and Senior Housing Industry

Mr. Ivey represents nursing homes and their employees throughout the state of Georgia.

Professional Negligence / Medical Malpractice

Mr. Ivey has served as counsel defending hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice actions for much of his legal career. He has extensive experience in defending all types of medical claims from the filing of the lawsuit through trial. Mr. Ivey represents hospitals and physicians throughout the state of Georgia in complex medical malpractice cases.

Property / SIU

Mr. Ivey works with insurance claims and insurance SIU departments concerning coverage issues from losses under vehicle, marine, commercial, and homeowners' policies. He provides assistance to his clients from the initial report of a loss through resolution.

Restaurant and Hospitality

Retail Liability

Mr. Ivey, the co-leader of the Retail Liability Practice Group, has extensive experience in defending property owners in premises liability actions. Mr. Ivey has defended many slip and fall actions as well as other premises liability claims for many employers throughout Georgia.
