Biography

Allison Thompson is Of Counsel in our Charleston office and focuses her practice on insurance coverage, construction, appellate, regulatory and other litigation matters.

Allison brings a unique perspective with over 20 years of experience working with a boutique plaintiffs’ firm where she handled construction defect and insurance coverage cases. She represented homeowners’ associations as well as single-family residential and commercial property owners in complex, multi-party litigation in both state and federal courts.

In addition to her coverage practice, Allison focuses on regulatory, administrative, and litigation matters involving legal issues related to Medicaid Long Term Care eligibility including handling special proceedings and administrative hearings and appeals. She also works with providers to secure guardianships and conservatorships and in other areas to aid providers with asset searches and recovery.

Allison has experience in representing correctional health care companies and individually named professionals in professional negligence and federal civil rights claims. She has significant experience in evaluating and assessing monetary damages for mediation and trial, has significant experience in motions and trial preparation practice, and has a deep understanding of the importance of collaborations with clients and experts to ensure best practices and results.

Allison began her career with a general insurance defense firm, where her practice focused on the defense of general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and window manufacturers in state and federal courts.

Originally from Hickory, North Carolina, Allison earned her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina and her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the College of Charleston. In her spare time, Allison enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and giving back to community interests.
