Biography

Beth is a Member in Stoll Keenon Ogden's Louisville office, having joined the firm in 2022. She contributes to the health care, Tort, Trial and Insurance Services and business litigation- practice groups. Her primary emphasis is litigation, defending claims involving medical malpractice, professional liability, and general insurance matters. She has represented doctors, hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation facilities, health care corporations, health insurance companies, mental health facilities, staffing agencies, and professional organizations throughout Kentucky. She also represents healthcare providers in administrative (licensure) matters and provides legal counsel regarding a wide range of healthcare-related issues. She is a frequently invited speaker for hospital and physician groups, drug and medical device companies, and groups of law, nursing, allied health, and medical students and residents.

A Louisville native, Beth earned her BS in nursing from Bellarmine University. Thereafter, she worked as a registered nurse in adult intensive care and both adult and pediatric post-anesthesia care units prior to and during law school.

Beth earned her J.D. from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. After law school, she worked for firms in both Houston and Louisville before forming McMasters Keith Butler Inc. in 2009 with Karen Keith and Ashley Butler. The lawyers and staff at McMasters Keith Butler joined Stoll Keenon Ogden on January 1, 2022.

Frequently named a top lawyer by her peers, Beth is a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, the only entity accredited by the American Bar Association to certify attorneys as specialists in the areas of medical malpractice and legal malpractice law. She is also a member in and leader of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Health Care: Beth provides legal counsel regarding a full range of hospital and health care-related legal issues for hospital corporations, nursing homes, and physician practices.

Business Litigation and Torts, Trial, and Insurance Services: Beth defends clients against claims involving alleged medical malpractice, professional liability, as well as against general insurance claims. She also represents healthcare providers in administrative actions before licensure boards. Beth and her colleagues also offer guidance on minimizing conflict and risk through sound business practices.
