Biography

Charlotte, a Member of the Firm, was among the original attorneys who formed our predecessor firm, Farrell, Farrell & Farrell, PLLC. From 2001 through part of 2003, she served as in-house general counsel to one of the firm’s hospital clients. She returned to the Firm in May 2003.

Charlotte graduated from Agnes Scott College and Washington and Lee University School of Law. As an undergraduate, she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and the Mortar Board Society, and graduated with High Honors. As a law student, she was appointed to serve as Co-Director of the Western State Hospital Legal Aid Society. Throughout her career, Charlotte’s professional focus has been to educate and protect her clients.

Her areas of practice include employment law, healthcare law, commercial law, insurance bad faith and product liability. Additionally, Charlotte represents financial industry clients before FINRA. Charlotte is in The Best Lawyers in America under the Employee Benefit Law specialty, a nomination by her peers that dates back to 2008.

Charlotte is admitted to practice in all of the courts of West Virginia, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fourth and Sixth Circuits. She is a member of the West Virginia Bar Association, the Cabell County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, as well as the Defense Research Institute, and the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia (“DTCWV”).

Charlotte has lectured to professional groups in multiple areas of employment law, as well as on issues involving managing troubled professionals, medical malpractice defense, physician-patient communications, mental health law, psychiatric forensics, and elder and child abuse law. She has also published articles on psychiatric malpractice, medical monitoring, the Privacy Standards under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and EMTALA.

In addition to her professional activities, Charlotte has served on a special committee of the Huntington Museum of Art to address accessibility issues for the disabled, as well as on the boards of Hospice of Huntington, Inc., Autism Services Center, Inc., the Hospital Hospitality House of Huntington, Inc., the St. John’s Free Clinic, Inc., and on the Hospitality and Lazarus Committees for Our Lady of Fatima Church in Huntington. Her service with Hospice of Huntington, Inc. includes two terms each as Chairman and Treasurer, as well as six (6) years as a member of its Ethics Committee.

Charlotte is available to accept representations in West Virginia.
