Clay Deatherage

Clay is a member of the firm’s litigation group, focusing on business, real estate and construction disputes. He has over 15 years’ experience in trying and resolving complex commercial and real estate litigation cases in state and federal courts, spending most of his career with AM Law 100 national and statewide law firms. He served as General Counsel for Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida from 2005 to 2008, providing legal analysis and counsel regarding intelligence collection methods, military tribunals, immigration reform, Medicare fraud, tort reform, and Florida’s federal judicial nominations. He also served on the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission for the Middle District of Florida from 2015 to 2017. Clay earned his law degree from the Florida State University School of Law in May of 2003, where he was on the Dean’s List and the Moot Court Team, being appointed to the National Order of Barristers for winning the Best Oralist Award at the 2003 University of North Carolina’s J. Braxton Craven National Moot Court Constitutional Law Competition.
