Biography

Dennis P. Sheehan has more than 30 years of experience in civil litigation and labor and employment matters. Dennis also has extensive experience prosecuting and defending personal injury cases, and represents clients in complicated commercial and contract matters.

Dennis’s experience with labor and employment matters includes providing representation in union and management disputes, human rights claims, and employee discipline and contract matters. In the civil litigation arena, his experience includes defending all types of claims brought against insurance companies by policy holders and by third parties.

The labor cases that Dennis has handled have brought him before the National Labor Relations Board, the New York State Public Employment Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Division of Human Rights, and both federal and New York State courts.

Dennis is a past president of the Broome County Bar Association, and has also served as a member of its Board of Directors along with many of its committees, including its Grievance Committee, of which he is a current member. He has also served the New York State Bar Association, as a delegate to its House of Delegates representing the Broome County Bar Association, and as a member of the New York Conference of Bar Leaders. Dennis also serves as a lecturer for the Broome County Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education Program on such topics as ethics, civil litigation issues and employment law. Additionally, for a number of years, Dennis has volunteered his services to the courts serving as an arbitrator for the Sixth Judicial District’s arbitration program resolving attorney/client fee disputes.

Dennis was born and raised in Binghamton and has been actively involved in his community, including serving as the President of Catholic Charities of Broome County and, for more than 25 years, being an active member of its Board of Directors. He has been honored with the designation of Member Emeritus. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse and Broome County Catholic Youth Organization. Dennis also greatly enjoyed his time as a youth basketball, baseball and soccer coach with his local civic association.
