Biography

Don Brown is a Partner in the Alpharetta office of Hall Booth Smith and has spent his entire career defending businesses and individuals in civil litigation. He also serves as the Co-Chair of the Professional Malpractice & Ethics group.

Don specializes in defending lawyers, accountants, architects, and engineers against claims of professional negligence, as well as disciplinary matters brought by licensing authorities.

Don also specializes in representing businesses and apartment complexes in premises liability matters ranging from slip and falls to negligent security matters based upon third-party criminal attacks.

Don holds a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Georgia State University, where he served on the Law Review and Moot Court. He also received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia State University.

Experience

Construction

Don has experience representing design professionals in a wide range of pre-suit and litigated matters arising from the design and construction process. This includes the representation of architects, engineers, and surveyors in claims associated with planning, design, and administration of projects at all levels of complexity.

General Liability

Don has handled a wide range of liability matters over the years ranging from motor vehicle accident litigation to negligent construction to medical malpractice.

Premises Liability

Don is actively involved in defending business owners and occupiers in premises liability actions, ranging from slip-and-falls to third-party criminal attacks.

Professional Malpractice & Ethics

Don serves as the co-chair for the Professional Malpractice & Ethics service group. His practice focuses on representing attorneys and law firms in every facet of malpractice litigation arising out of a wide variety of underlying legal matters, including real estate, bankruptcy, family law, personal injury, trusts and estates, contracts, and workers’ compensation.
