Biography

Douglas Funkhouser is an Ohio criminal defense attorney with more than 30 years of experience and a reputation for treating clients with real compassion and respect. He does not take a hands-off approach, he personally handles each case and takes seriously the responsibility of defending people who may feel vulnerable or overwhelmed by the system. Mr. Funkhouser began practicing law in 1995 and, before founding Douglas A. Funkhouser Co., L.P.A. in 2000, represented nearly 1,000 clients in a wide range of civil matters. His background also includes military service as a U.S. Army prosecutor in the Republic of South Korea, where he led a legal staff, prosecuted more than 400 misconduct cases, and successfully handled four courts-martial. He also served as the primary legal advisor to 30 commanders overseeing more than 4,000 soldiers near the demilitarized zone. A graduate of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s School, he served as a Captain in the JAG Corps and advised on investigative, administrative, and criminal law issues. He earned his B.A. from The Ohio State University and his J.D. with honors from Capital University Law School.
