Biography

Ellie K. Harris is a partner at the law firm of Schwarz & Harris, P.A., where she focuses her legal practice on Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning, Medicaid Planning, Asset Protection, Probate, Trust Administration, and Guardianship.

She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Michigan State University and received a full athletic scholarship to play volleyball at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Additionally, Ms. Harris holds an LL.M. in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law, distinguishing her as the only known attorney in Charlotte County with this advanced specialization in Elder Law.

Ms. Harris is an active participant in her community, engaging with various local and state organizations, including the Charlotte Estate Planning Council, Charlotte County Bar Association, and Business and Professional Women of Charlotte County. She has previously served on the General Elder Law Guardianship Committee of the Florida Bar and has held board positions for the Life Long Learning Institute at Edison College, the YMCA, and as Treasurer of the Charlotte County Young Lawyers’ Division.

In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Harris has taught the Guardianship Education Course for appointed guardians. She has also provided training for the Exam Committee Initial Training Course and taught the Estate Planning Course at the Edison College Life Long Learning Institute.

Outside of her professional life, Ms. Harris enjoys spending time with her family. She has been married for 21 years to her husband, who is a teacher and coaches high school basketball. Together, they love watching their teenage boys play football and basketball and cherish their time spent together.

Originally born in Michigan and raised in Sarasota, Florida, Ellie K. Harris combines her legal expertise with a deep commitment to her clients and community, ensuring that individuals and families receive the guidance they need to protect themselves and their families for generations.
