Biography

Emily Alexander is an associate in the Nashville office, where she focuses her practice on a variety of areas of law, including health care, medical malpractice, construction, and aging services matters. She represents hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other providers in complex litigation and works closely with clients to develop strategic and efficient resolutions to disputes.

Emily began her career with Hall Booth Smith as a summer associate, gaining hands-on experience in medical malpractice and contract matters. During that time, she drafted pleadings, conducted detailed legal research, and assisted in trial preparation, experience that laid the foundation for her work today.

Earlier in her legal career, Emily gained extensive experience across multiple areas of law. She served as a deputy law clerk with the Davidson County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, where she worked on circuit, domestic, and probate dockets and assisted judges and special masters during proceedings. She also worked as a senior litigation paralegal at another local firm, where she supported cases involving securities, healthcare fraud, and qui tam litigation, including participating in a wage and hour trial.

Through several public service roles she also gained broader experience in the legal field. She interned with the New York State Attorney General’s Office in the Consumer Fraud and Protection Bureau, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, and the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps. While in law school, she volunteered as a student attorney with the Volunteer Lawyers Project of Central New York and the Betty and Michael D. Wohl Veterans Legal Clinic, representing clients in eviction and veterans’ benefits cases.

Emily earned her Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law, where she was a form and accuracy editor for the Journal of International Law & Commerce and a member of the Travis Lewin Advocacy Honor Society. She also served as a Senator in the Student Bar Association and was active in the Family Law Society, Military & Veterans Law Society, and Entertainment and Sports Law Society. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, magna cum laude, from Siena College.
